Le Band- the history |
History:Le Band was first formed in 1995 with Hazel Tibbs fronting the group, her husband Bill Tibbs on percussion, Jerry Hutchinson on bass and Malcolm Woodhead on Violin. Later, John Lang joined and they performed in various social clubs around the Plymouth circuit, playing mainly Cajun music (a form of Country & Western), some Rock & Roll, Pop and modern music. At the end of 1998, Malcolm hung up his violin and vanished into the shadowy depths of St. Budeaux, Plymouth. Although remaining in contact, Le band moved on, with Bill's brother, Mike, doing a brief stint on pedal-steel. Then, Mark Brumpton joined, playing Saxophone like Charlie Parker and keyboards like Les Dawson. He remained with the band long enough to establish them as one of the most versatile and liked bands in the Plymouth area. Sadly, Mark had to leave due to his day job, and was replaced by the equally talented Jerry Girardot (JR) on keyboards and backing vocals. He has settled in well, but the fact that there are now two Jerry's in the band makes for some interesting confusion at times. So, the current line-up appeared: |
