7th September 2002

Well as promised I am back with the new write-ups of our infamous performances, and I can now confirm that they are as full of fun and frolics as always.  So the latest gig at the R.A.O.B. and what a place to play, as the genie said about his plight in Aladdin, "A UNIVERSE OF FANTASTIC POWERS BUT AN ITTY-BITTY LIVING SPACE", as far as the R.A.O.B. is concerned its "A UNIVERSE OF FANTASTIC MUSIC BUT AN ITTY-BITTY PLAYING AREA". How we managed to get a five piece band with full keyboards and full drum kit on the 6'x4' stage I will never know, but we did and we performed to our usual professional standard, bringing joy to all that heard us.

What went wrong:- Well apart from the stage size, Marc had a new mic for his sax, when he first explained that he had fixed the electrics himself there was an air of "oh here we go prepare for a bang" but as the evening progressed it became apparent that the only problem he faced was that the locking screw loosened itself and the mic fell of the sax.  Bill found his new "cheap and nasty" bass drum pedal wasn't all it was cracked up to be and so is going to get rid and buy a decent one.  Musically it went with no hitches bar the last two songs where the keyboards seemed to get a life of their own.. quote" I pushed the right key...honest its just the rest of you that must have been out of tune" unquote.  OK Marc we believe you... thousands wouldn't.

What went right:- The songs, The audience, basically everything not mentioned above. Also this time we remembered that we were supposed to play till half eleven and didn't stop at eleven and get told off by the committee.

All in all a great gig from the performing side of things, however not so good for this report as there isn't that much juicy gossip to lay down.

Torpoint next week, a favourite of the band.

Well Torpoint has changed...they've had a re-fit and all is looking good. Mark had a large group of friends come to see him play.

What went wrong:- I reiterate Mark had a large group of friends come to see him play, this put of his performance greatly and to quote Hazel "you haven't played that bad since you first started with the band", however from the feedback of the punters afterwards it wasn't noticed, or maybe he just plays that badly all the time.

What went right:- everything else, the punters loved it, the bar staff loved it and we have been invited back.

Additional:- Le band have just finished cutting their second CD, I'm not sure what happened to the first but you can hear samples of our latest CD on the Sound bytes page.

5th October 2002

Welcome back after two weeks of R & R, and straight back in with a prestigious gig at Kings Tamerton Social Club.  Marc invited some friends along, one of whom was celebrating her birthday, first time she has seen the band and she wasn't expecting the serenade of happy birthday from the band but managed to enjoy it with only a little embarrassment.

What went wrong:- Well nothing really, a great improvement on the last gig especially with reference to Marc's playing.

What went right:- Well once again marc had the local ladies pawing him for his sexy sax....bill really wants to learn to play one now. Regardless of the fact that there was a disco and party going on upstairs we managed to hold a fair crowd to the lower floor with the promise of live music and dance, (well jerry bobbing up and down anyway).

Good news the CD is ready, the cover is just undergoing the final acceptance from the rest of the band and it will be on sale from next week, added gig next week as well, we can be found at Saltash Working Men's Club astounding the local working men (and women).

Some photo's of the band compliments of Jerry's brother, Dave:
